QROPS is an overseas pension scheme that meets certain requirements set by HMRC.

QROPS are suitable for UK citizens who have left the UK permanently and intend to retire abroad, after building up a UK pension fund. This can also be the case for a person born outside of the UK but who has accumulated a pension whilst working in the UK and who does not intend to retire there.

The QROPS does not need to be established in the country in which you choose to retire to. It can be moved to another jurisdiction and have the benefits paid to you in the country in which you intend to live in.

It is important to note that this scheme does NOT apply for State Pension benefits and is solely intended for Defined Contribution, Defined Benefit, and SSAS pension schemes.
